Ryloth.jpgRyloth was a planet in the Ryloth system of the Outer Rim Territories, and the homeworld of the Twi’lek species. Its terrain varied, filled with jungles, mesas, valleys, and volcanoes, and had an atmosphere breathable for Twi’leks and humans alike. A forest covered its equator, filled with dangerous predators. Given the varied and dangerous terrain, Twi’leks lived in caves underground where it was safer.

Ryloth was the homeworld of the Twi’lek species. For centuries, the planet and its people were exploited by the Hutts and their criminal enterprises.

Upon the declaration of war between the Confederacy of Independent Systems and the Galactic Republic, Ryloth was invaded by the Separatist Droid Army, however was ultimately repelled by the Republic, several Jedi, and the Twi’lek Resistance.

After the Clone Wars, Ryloth was occupied by the Galactic Empire. A number of anti-Imperial terrorist cells attempted to wage a guerrilla war against the Empire but have been unsuccessful.

The largest of these anti-Imperial groups was the Free Ryloth Movement. The Free Ryloth Movement attempted to assassinate the Empire during a state visit and were unsuccessful. This led the Empire to tighten its grip upon Ryloth. Ryloth is currently under heavy Imperial rule and although Twi’leks have not yet been deemed a Dissident Species though on Ryloth, and throughout most of the Empire, Twi’leks are treated with much suspicion and are considered “less” than most other species, especially humans.
